Worst experience my family and I ever had
I'm surprised more than anything that he can treat vacation renters this way and still wonder why they want to give him a bad review. We arrived to a Tahoe rental home at our check in time, and the cleaning people were still there. Not a big deal, we asked them how long it would be, they told us at least an hour. It ended up being two hours, we waited out on the front lawn for two hours. I called Matt, which he asked me to do via email, to call when we arrived, I got his voicemail saying he was out of the country. so I called the alternative phone number, ended up being matts mom/dad, and left a message because they didn't pick up. To keep it short, Matt was rude and defensive when I told him we were not able to check in, via email he replied "wah, wah."
As the weekend went on the place was nothing as it was described in the rental listing, there were only 2.5 bathrooms rather than 3.5, there was no game room, the "fooseball table" was a 7"x12" broken table topper, the sleeping arrangements, even though I had confirmed them with Matt that they are what they say in the listing, was incorrect. In place of two twins were two small bunk beds. The only reason we chose the house was for all these things. My brother and his wife left after the first night due to the lack of proper sleeping arrangements. It was a dirty, uncomfortable, outdated house. Cobwebs everywhere, the BBQ was disgusting, dead bugs were hanging from cobwebs all over the house, the sliding glass doors and screens were sticky and difficult to open, the living room DVD player was broken, the downstairs 12x12 inch 90s tv was also broken, light bulbs were out in almost every room... Worst place I've ever been advertised to seem like a great vacation spot.
Matthew would not acknowledge any of these things and told us straight out "if you don't like it, you can leave" continued to be rude and uncaring for all of these inconveniences. He didn't show an inkling of remorse or offer a single apology. After all this we requested a refund and encouraged him to change his listing, he begrudgedly gave us a measly $200 refund, only because we requested it, and complained that he already gave us a good discount and made the off handed comment that if money was the only thing we would accept to solve our problems than he had to give it to us.
Actually Matthew, we wanted a nice vacation, and you made it worse by being a part of it. We told you all of the issues, you made no attempt to correct them, because you were out of the country on your own vacation. We will never rent from you or your company again.
